Many of our students don’t have a stable home life. For some of them, the days they’re at school are the days they look forward to the most. While we strive to bring them a well-rounded education, your job is much more than that. You’ll be a mentor. You’ll be a brother/sister. You’ll be a friend.

We are looking for people who are willing to be a shoulder to cry on and a positive light in the lives of our students.

Learning doesn’t have to be boring, and we do everything we can to make it as fun for our teachers as it is for our students. The students love interacting with their teachers in fun, artistic ways, so being able to keep things interesting is a must!

We also have projects year-round. You’ll be working with our teachers and our communities to help with holidays, school events, and other things that pop up during our calendar year. It’s a fun, colorful, cultural experience, and we want someone who isn’t afraid to dive in!

Living in the mountains of Honduras can have its challenges! Whether it be a loss of electricity, a change in plans because the bus is running late, or any other inconvenience that befalls one in the jungle, it is important to be flexible.

We do what we can to ensure consistency in the lives of our volunteers, but things happen. We can’t control the mud, rain, or cattle schedule, so we need people that are willing to roll with the punches!

Every day, these children carry with them anger, sadness, hope, and tiredness, and in these classes we become for many of them a friend, brother, dad, mom, counselor, people they want to have to talk with or receive a word of motivation from; someone that encourages them to move forward and achieve their dreams.

Maybe we can't change the world; but the possibility to change the world of each being with whom we share these experiences—leaving with them that seed and that indelible mark on their minds and hearts—that is why we do what we do.”

I’ve been a hug-giver, a picture-taker, and cookie-baker, all while influencing the lives of these incredible students. I get to talk with them, hold them when they cry, and be a part of their lives that I know will be with them forever, whether I'm here or not.

Being here has changed me in a lot of ways I didn't think was possible, and I grew in ways I didn't know I needed to grow. Something about this place just gets in your blood, and I know that a piece of my heart will always remain in Honduras with these children.
